 |
| اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ {١} |
1. READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, |
| خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ {٢} |
2. Created man from an embryo; |
| اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ {٣} |
3. Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, |
| الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ {٤} |
4. Who taught by the pen, |
| عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ {٥} |
5. Taught man what he did not know. |
| كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ {٦} |
6. And yet, but yet man is rebellious, |
| أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ {٧} |
7. For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. |
| إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ {٨} |
8. Surely your returning is to your Lord. |
| أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ {٩} |
9. Have you seen him who restrains |
| عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ {١٠} |
10. A votary when he turns to his devotions? |
| أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ {١١} |
11. Have you thought, if he had been on guidance |
| أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ {١٢} |
12. Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? |
| أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١٣} |
13. Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, |
| أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ {١٤} |
14. Does he not know that God sees? |
| كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ {١٥} |
15. And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, |
| نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ {١٦} |
16. By the lying, the sinful forelock. |
| فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ {١٧} |
17. So let him call his associates, |
| سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ {١٨} |
18. We shall call the guards of Hell. |
| كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۩ {١٩} |
19. Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). |
