 |
| وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ {١} |
1. By oath of the night when it covers |
| وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ {٢} |
2. And by oath of the day when it shines |
| وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ {٣} |
3. And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. |
| إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ {٤} |
4. Indeed your efforts differ. |
| فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ {٥} |
5. So for one who gave and practised piety |
| وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ {٦} |
6. And believed the best matter to be true |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ {٧} |
7. So We will very soon provide him ease. |
| وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ {٨} |
8. And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, |
| وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ {٩} |
9. And denied the best matter, |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ {١٠} |
10. So We will very soon provide him hardship. |
| وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ {١١} |
11. His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. |
| إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ {١٢} |
12. Indeed guiding is upon Us. |
| وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ {١٣} |
13. And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. |
| فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ {١٤} |
14. I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. |
| لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى {١٥} |
15. None except the most wicked will enter it. |
| الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١٦} |
16. The one who denied and turned away. |
| وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى {١٧} |
17. He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) |
| الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ {١٨} |
18. Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. |
| وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ {١٩} |
19. And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. |
| إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ {٢٠} |
20. He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. |
| وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ {٢١} |
21. And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. |
