 |
| وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ {١} |
1. By the night when it veils! |
| وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ {٢} |
2. And the day when it is displayed! |
| وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ {٣} |
3. And by (the mystery) of male and female! |
| إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ {٤} |
4. Verily, your efforts are diverse! |
| فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ {٥} |
5. But as for him who gives alms and fears Allah, |
| وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ {٦} |
6. And believes in goodness, |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ {٧} |
7. We will ease his way to ease! |
| وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ {٨} |
8. But as for him who is niggardly and thinks himself independent (or self-sufficient), |
| وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ {٩} |
9. And calls the good a lie, |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ {١٠} |
10. We will ease his way to misery (adversity)! |
| وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ {١١} |
11. And his wealth shall not avail him when he falls down (into hell)! |
| إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ {١٢} |
12. Verily, it is for Us to guide; |
| وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ {١٣} |
13. And, verily, Ours are the Latter and the Former life! |
| فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ {١٤} |
14. Therefore, I have warned you of a Fire that flames fiercely! |
| لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى {١٥} |
15. None shall broil thereon, but the most wretched, |
| الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١٦} |
16. Who says it is a lie and turns his back. |
| وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى {١٧} |
17. But the pious shall be kept away from it, |
| الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ {١٨} |
18. He who gives his wealth that he may grow. |
| وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ {١٩} |
19. And who gives no favour expecting a return, |
| إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ {٢٠} |
20. But only desiring the face of his Lord Most High. |
| وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ {٢١} |
21. In the end he shall be well fulfilled! |
