 |
| وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ {١} |
1. By the night when it envelopeth, |
| وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ {٢} |
2. By the day when it appeareth in glory, |
| وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ {٣} |
3. By Him Who hath created the male and the female, |
| إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ {٤} |
4. Verily your endeavour is diverse. |
| فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ {٥} |
5. Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. |
| وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ {٦} |
6. And testifieth to the Good, |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ {٧} |
7. Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. |
| وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ {٨} |
8. And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, |
| وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ {٩} |
9. And who belieth the Good, |
| فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ {١٠} |
10. Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. |
| وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ {١١} |
11. And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. |
| إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ {١٢} |
12. Verify on us is the guidance |
| وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ {١٣} |
13. And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. |
| فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ {١٤} |
14. Wherefore have warned you of Fire flaming, |
| لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى {١٥} |
15. None shall roast therein but the most wretched, |
| الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١٦} |
16. Who belieth and turneth away. |
| وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى {١٧} |
17. And avoid it shall the most pious, |
| الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ {١٨} |
18. Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, |
| وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ {١٩} |
19. And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. |
| إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ {٢٠} |
20. But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. |
| وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ {٢١} |
21. And presently he shall become wellpleased. |
