 |
| سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى {١} |
1. GLORIFY THE NAME of your Lord, most high, |
| الَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ {٢} |
2. Who creates and proportions, |
| وَالَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ {٣} |
3. Who determines and directs, |
| وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَىٰ {٤} |
4. Who brings out the pastures |
| فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَىٰ {٥} |
5. Then reduces them to rusty rubbish. |
| سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسَىٰ {٦} |
6. We shall make you recite (the Qur´an) so that you will not forget it, |
| إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ {٧} |
7. Unless God may please. He knows the visible and knows what is hidden. |
| وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ {٨} |
8. We shall take you slowly towards ease. |
| فَذَكِّرْ إِنْ نَفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَىٰ {٩} |
9. So remind them if reminder is profitable: |
| سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَخْشَىٰ {١٠} |
10. Those who fear will understand. |
| وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْأَشْقَى {١١} |
11. Only the wretch will turn aside, |
| الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَىٰ {١٢} |
12. Who will burn in the terrible Fire, |
| ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ {١٣} |
13. In which he will neither die nor live. |
| قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكَّىٰ {١٤} |
14. Surely he will succeed who grows in goodness, |
| وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّىٰ {١٥} |
15. And recites the name of his Lord and serves with devotion. |
| بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا {١٦} |
16. But no, you prefer the life of the world, |
| وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ {١٧} |
17. Though the life to come is better and abiding. |
| إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَىٰ {١٨} |
18. This is surely in the earlier Books, |
| صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ {١٩} |
19. The Books of Abraham and Moses. |
