 |
| وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ {١} |
1. I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, |
| وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ {٢} |
2. And the promised day, |
| وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ {٣} |
3. And the witness and the witnessed, |
| قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ {٤} |
4. That accursed are the men of the trench |
| النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ {٥} |
5. Full of fire fed by faggots, |
| إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ {٦} |
6. As they sat around it |
| وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ {٧} |
7. Witnessing what they had done to the believers! |
| وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ {٨} |
8. They had no other reason for hating them except that they believed in God the mighty, worthy of praise, |
| الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ {٩} |
9. Whose kingdom spreads over the heavens and the earth. God is witness over everything. |
| إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ {١٠} |
10. Surely for those who persecute believers, men and women, and do not repent afterwards, is the punishment of Hell, and the punishment of burning. |
| إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ {١١} |
11. Surely for those who believe and do the right are gardens with rivers running by. That is the greatest success. |
| إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ {١٢} |
12. The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! |
| إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ {١٣} |
13. It is verily He who initiates and repeats. |
| وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ {١٤} |
14. He is the forgiving and the loving, |
| ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ {١٥} |
15. The Lord of the glorious Throne, |
| فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ {١٦} |
16. Who does as He pleases. |
| هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ {١٧} |
17. Has the story of the hordes |
| فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ {١٨} |
18. Of Pharaoh and Thamud come to you? |
| بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ {١٩} |
19. Yet the infidels persist in denial. |
| وَاللَّهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ {٢٠} |
20. But God surrounds them from all sides. |
| بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ {٢١} |
21. This is indeed the glorious Qur´an |
| فِي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ {٢٢} |
22. (Preserved) on the guarded tablet. |
