 |
| عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١} |
1. He frowned and turned away. |
| أَنْ جَاءَهُ الْأَعْمَىٰ {٢} |
2. Because there came Unto him a blind man. |
| وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّىٰ {٣} |
3. How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, |
| أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنْفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ {٤} |
4. Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? |
| أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَىٰ {٥} |
5. As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient- |
| فَأَنْتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّىٰ {٦} |
6. Unto him thou attendest. |
| وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ {٧} |
7. Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. |
| وَأَمَّا مَنْ جَاءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ {٨} |
8. And as for him who cometh Unto thee running, |
| وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ {٩} |
9. And he feareth´- |
| فَأَنْتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ {١٠} |
10. Him thou neglectest! |
| كَلَّا إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ {١١} |
11. By no means! Verily it is an admonition. |
| فَمَنْ شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ {١٢} |
12. So whosoever willeth-let him be admonished therewlth. |
| فِي صُحُفٍ مُكَرَّمَةٍ {١٣} |
13. Inscribed in Writs honoured," |
| مَرْفُوعَةٍ مُطَهَّرَةٍ {١٤} |
14. Exalted, Purified, |
| بِأَيْدِي سَفَرَةٍ {١٥} |
15. By the hands of scribes. |
| كِرَامٍ بَرَرَةٍ {١٦} |
16. Honourable and virtuous. |
| قُتِلَ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا أَكْفَرَهُ {١٧} |
17. Perish man! how ungrateful he is! |
| مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ {١٨} |
18. Of what thing hath He created him? |
| مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُ فَقَدَّرَهُ {١٩} |
19. Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. |
| ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ {٢٠} |
20. Then the way He made easy. |
| ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُ فَأَقْبَرَهُ {٢١} |
21. Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. |
| ثُمَّ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْشَرَهُ {٢٢} |
22. Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. |
| كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَا أَمَرَهُ {٢٣} |
23. By no means He performed not that which He had commanded him. |
| فَلْيَنْظُرِ الْإِنْسَانُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِ {٢٤} |
24. Let man look at his food: |
| أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا الْمَاءَ صَبًّا {٢٥} |
25. It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, |
| ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا الْأَرْضَ شَقًّا {٢٦} |
26. Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, |
| فَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا {٢٧} |
27. Then We cause therein the grain to grow, |
| وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا {٢٨} |
28. And grapes and vegetables |
| وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا {٢٩} |
29. And olives and palms |
| وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا {٣٠} |
30. And enclosed gardens luxuriant. |
| وَفَاكِهَةً وَأَبًّا {٣١} |
31. And fruits and herbage: |
| مَتَاعًا لَكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ {٣٢} |
32. A provision for you and for your cattle. |
| فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الصَّاخَّةُ {٣٣} |
33. Then when cometh the Deafening Cry- |
| يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ {٣٤} |
34. On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, |
| وَأُمِّهِ وَأَبِيهِ {٣٥} |
35. And his mother and his father, |
| وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَبَنِيهِ {٣٦} |
36. And his wife and his sons; |
| لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ {٣٧} |
37. For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy |
| وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُسْفِرَةٌ {٣٨} |
38. Faces on that Day shall be beaming, |
| ضَاحِكَةٌ مُسْتَبْشِرَةٌ {٣٩} |
39. Laughing, rejoicing. |
| وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ {٤٠} |
40. And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. |
| تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ {٤١} |
41. Dust shall cover them |
| أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْكَفَرَةُ الْفَجَرَةُ {٤٢} |
42. Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. |
