 |
| إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنْذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ {١} |
1. That you should serve Allah and keep your duty to Him and obey me -- |
| قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ {٢} |
2. He will forgive you some of your sins and grant you respite to an appointed term. Surely the term of Allah, when it comes, is not postponed. Did you but know! |
| أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ {٣} |
3. He said: My Lord, I have called my people night and day: |
| يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ مِنْ ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ {٤} |
4. But my call has only made them flee the more. |
| قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا {٥} |
5. And whenever I call to them Thou mayest forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are big with pride. |
| فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلَّا فِرَارًا {٦} |
6. Then surely I have called to them aloud, |
| وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا {٧} |
7. Then spoken to them in public and spoken to them in private, |
| ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا {٨} |
8. So I have said: Ask forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever Forgiving: |
| ثُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْلَنْتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا {٩} |
9. He will send down upon you rain, pouring in abundance, |
| فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا {١٠} |
10. And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. |
| يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَارًا {١١} |
11. What is the matter with you that you hope not for greatness from Allah? |
| وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ أَنْهَارًا {١٢} |
12. And indeed He has created you by various stages. |
| مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا {١٣} |
13. See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens alike, |
| وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا {١٤} |
14. And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? |
| أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا {١٥} |
15. And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth as a growth, |
| وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا {١٦} |
16. Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth. |
| وَاللَّهُ أَنْبَتَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا {١٧} |
17. And Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you, |
| ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا {١٨} |
18. That you may go along therein in spacious paths. |
| وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا {١٩} |
19. Noah said: My Lord, surely they disobey me and follow him whose wealth and children have increased him in naught but loss. |
| لِتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا {٢٠} |
20. And they have planned a mighty plan. |
| قَالَ نُوحٌ رَبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَنْ لَمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَارًا {٢١} |
21. And they say: Forsake not your gods; nor forsake Wadd, nor Suwa’, nor Yaghuth and Ya’uq and Nasr. |
| وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا {٢٢} |
22. And indeed they have led many astray. And increase Thou the wrongdoers in naught but perdition. |
| وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا {٢٣} |
23. Because of their wrongs they were drowned, then made to enter Fire, so they found no helpers besides Allah. |
| وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَالًا {٢٤} |
24. And Noah said: My Lord, leave not of the disbelievers any dweller on the land. |
| مِمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا فَأُدْخِلُوا نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنْصَارًا {٢٥} |
25. For if Thou leave them, they will lead astray Thy servants, and will not beget any but immortal, ungrateful ones. |
| وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا {٢٦} |
26. My Lord, forgive me and my parents and him who enters my house believing, and the believing men and the believing women. And increase not the wrongdoers in aught but destruction! |
| إِنَّكَ إِنْ تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوا إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا {٢٧} |
27. Say: It has been revealed to me that a party of the jinn listened, so they said: Surely we have heard a wonderful Qur’an, |
| رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا {٢٨} |
28. Guiding to the right way -- so we believe in it. And we shall not set up any one with our Lord: |
