 |
| سَأَلَ سَائِلٌ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ {١} |
1. Someone has (needlessly) demanded to experience the torment (of God), |
| لِلْكَافِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُ دَافِعٌ {٢} |
2. which will inevitably seize the disbelievers. |
| مِنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ {٣} |
3. No one can defend him against God, the Lord of the exalted positions. |
| تَعْرُجُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ {٤} |
4. On that Day (of Judgment), long as fifty thousand years, the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him. |
| فَاصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا {٥} |
5. (Muhammad), exercise patience with no complaints. |
| إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُ بَعِيدًا {٦} |
6. They think that it (the Day of Judgment) is far away. |
| وَنَرَاهُ قَرِيبًا {٧} |
7. but We see it to be very near. |
| يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ {٨} |
8. On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. |
| وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ {٩} |
9. and the mountains become like wool, |
| وَلَا يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا {١٠} |
10. even intimate friends will not inquire about their friends, |
| يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِي مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍ بِبَنِيهِ {١١} |
11. though they may see each other. A sinner will wish that he could save himself from the torment of that day by sacrificing his children, |
| وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَأَخِيهِ {١٢} |
12. his wife, his brother, |
| وَفَصِيلَتِهِ الَّتِي تُؤْوِيهِ {١٣} |
13. his kinsmen who gave him refuge (from hardship) |
| وَمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنْجِيهِ {١٤} |
14. and all those on earth. |
| كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ {١٥} |
15. By no means! For the raging flames of the fire |
| نَزَّاعَةً لِلشَّوَىٰ {١٦} |
16. will strip-off the flesh |
| تَدْعُو مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {١٧} |
17. and drag into it anyone who has turned away (from obeying God), |
| وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰ {١٨} |
18. and who accumulated wealth without spending it for a good purpose. |
| إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا {١٩} |
19. Human beings are created greedy. |
| إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا {٢٠} |
20. When they are afflicted, they complain, |
| وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا {٢١} |
21. but when they are fortunate, they become niggardly |
| إِلَّا الْمُصَلِّينَ {٢٢} |
22. except those who are steadfast |
| الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ {٢٣} |
23. and constant in their prayers. |
| وَالَّذِينَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَعْلُومٌ {٢٤} |
24. They are those who assign a certain share of their property |
| لِلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ {٢٥} |
25. for the needy and the deprived, |
| وَالَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ {٢٦} |
26. who acknowledge the Day of Judgment, |
| وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمْ مُشْفِقُونَ {٢٧} |
27. who are afraid of the torment of their Lord, |
| إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ {٢٨} |
28. the punishment of their Lord is not something for them to feel secure of, |
| وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ {٢٩} |
29. who guard their carnal desires |
| إِلَّا عَلَىٰ أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ {٣٠} |
30. except from their wives and slave girls, in which case they are not to be blamed, |
| فَمَنِ ابْتَغَىٰ وَرَاءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ {٣١} |
31. but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; |
| وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَانَاتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَاعُونَ {٣٢} |
32. who honor their trust and promises, |
| وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ بِشَهَادَاتِهِمْ قَائِمُونَ {٣٣} |
33. who testify to what they have witnessed, |
| وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ {٣٤} |
34. and (finally) those who do not miss their ritual - prayers at the prescribed times; |
| أُولَٰئِكَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ مُكْرَمُونَ {٣٥} |
35. such people will receive due honor in Paradise. |
| فَمَالِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ {٣٦} |
36. What is wrong with the disbelievers who roam around you (Muhammad), |
| عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ {٣٧} |
37. left and right, in numerous groups? |
| أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ {٣٨} |
38. Does every one of them desire to enter the bountiful Paradise? |
| كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ {٣٩} |
39. By no means! For they know very well out of what We have created them (The human being´s naturally growing from a living germ, without discipline and good deeds will not result in virtue). |
| فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ الْمَشَارِقِ وَالْمَغَارِبِ إِنَّا لَقَادِرُونَ {٤٠} |
40. I do not need to swear by the Lord of the eastern and western regions that We have certainly all the power |
| عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ {٤١} |
41. to replace them by a better people and none can challenge Our power. |
| فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ {٤٢} |
42. (Muhammad), leave them alone to dispute and play until they face the Day with which they have been threatened: |
| يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ {٤٣} |
43. the Day when they rush out of their graves as if racing towards a signpost, |
| خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ {٤٤} |
44. with their eyes cast down and covered by disgrace; the day about which they were promised. |
