 |
1. Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Sovereignty, and He has power to do all things, |
2. Who created death and life that He may try you as to which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving, |
3. Who created the seven heavens one above the other in harmony; you see no incongruity in the creation of the Beneficent Allah; then look again, can you see any flaw? |
4. Then turn back your eye again and again; your sight will return unto you weak and fatigued. |
5. And certainly We have adorned this lower heaven with lamps and We have made these missiles for Satan, and We have prepared for them the chastisement of burning. |
6. And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the punishment of hell, and evil is the destination. |
7. When they shall be cast therein, they shall hear a loud gasp as it swells, |
8. Almost bursting for fury. Whenever a group is cast into it, its keeper shall ask them, "Did there not come to you a Warner?" |
9. They shall say, "Yea! Indeed there came to us a Warner, but we rejected him and said, ´Allah has not revealed anything, you are only suffering from delusions.´" |
10. And they shall say, "Had we but listened or pondered (used our reason or intelligence), we should not have been among the inmates of the Blazing Fire." |
11. So they shall acknowledge their sins, but far will be forgiveness from the inmates of the Blazing Fire. |
12. Lo! Those who fear their Lord in secret (or unseen), they shall surely have forgiveness and a great reward. |
13. And whether you conceal your opinion or express it; surely He is Aware of what is in the heart. |
14. Should He not know, He Who created? And He is the Knower of the Subtleties, the Aware. |
15. He it is Who made the earth smooth (manageable) for you, therefore go about in the spacious paths thereof, and eat of His provisions, and to Him is the Resurrection after death. |
16. Have you taken security from Him Who is in heaven that He will not make the earth swallow you when it is shaken (convulsed)? |
17. Or have you taken security from Him Who is in heaven that He will not send down upon you a hurricane so that you shall know how terrible was My warning? |
18. And verily those before them rejected the truth, then how terrible was My wrath. |
19. Have they not seen the birds above them expanding (their wings) and contracting (them)? What is it that withholds them save the Beneficent? Lo! He is Seer of all things. |
20. Or who is it that will be an army to assist you besides the Beneficent? The unbelievers are in naught but delusion. |
21. Or who is it that will provide you if He should withhold His sustenance? Nay! They persist in disdain and aversion (from truth). |
22. What! Is he who goes prone upon his face better guided or he who walks upright upon a Straight Way? |
23. Say, "He it is Who brought you into being and made for you the faculties of hearing and seeing and heart: little is it that you give thanks." |
24. Say, "He it is Who multiplied you in the earth and to Him you shall be gathered." |
25. And they say, "When shall this promise be (fulfilled) if you are truthful?" |
26. Say, " The knowledge thereof is only with Allah and I am only a plain Warner." |
27. But when they shall see it nigh, the faces of those who disbelieve shall be sorry, and it shall be said, "This is that which you used to call for." |
28. Say (O Muhammad), "Have you considered if Allah should cause me and those with me to be destroyed or has mercy on us, still, who will protect the disbelievers from a painful doom?" |
29. Say, "He is the Beneficent. We believe in Him and in Him do we put our trust. And you will come to know who it is that is in error manifest." |
30. Say, "Have you considered if all your water should some morning be lost down into the earth, who is it then that will supply you clear flowing water?" |
 |
