1. Ha. Mim. |
| وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ {٢} |
2. I swear by the illustrious Book. |
| إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِينَ {٣} |
3. that We have revealed the Quran on a blessed night to warn mankind. |
| فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ {٤} |
4. On this night, every absolute command coming from Us becomes distinguishable. |
| أَمْرًا مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ {٥} |
5. The command that We have been sending |
| رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ {٦} |
6. as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. |
| رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ {٧} |
7. He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would have strong faith. |
| لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ {٨} |
8. There is only One Lord. It is He who gives life and causes things to die. He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers. |
| بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ {٩} |
9. In fact, the unbelievers have doubts because of excessive involvement in worldly affairs. |
| فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ {١٠} |
10. Wait for the day (which will come before the Day of Judgment) when the sky will give out dense smoke |
| يَغْشَى النَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ {١١} |
11. which will smother the people. They will say, "This is a painful torment. |
| رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ {١٢} |
12. Lord, remove this torment from us for we are believers". |
| أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ {١٣} |
13. How could this punishment bring them to their senses when a Messenger evidently had come to them, |
| ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَجْنُونٌ {١٤} |
14. and they turned away, saying, "He is a trained and insane person". |
| إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ {١٥} |
15. We shall remove the torment for a while but you will revert to your old ways. |
| يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ إِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُونَ {١٦} |
16. However, We shall truly take Our revenge on the day when the great seizure takes place. |
| وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ {١٧} |
17. We had certainly tested the people of the Pharaoh before them to whom a noble Messengers had come, saying, |
| أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ {١٨} |
18. "Send the servants of God with me. I am a trustworthy Messenger sent to you. |
| وَأَنْ لَا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ {١٩} |
19. Do not consider yourselves above God? I shall show you a manifest authority (in support of my truthfulness). |
| وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ {٢٠} |
20. I seek protection from my Lord and your Lord from your decision of stoning me. |
| وَإِنْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ {٢١} |
21. If you do not want to believe, leave me alone". |
| فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ مُجْرِمُونَ {٢٢} |
22. Moses addressed his Lord, saying, "Lord, these people are sinners". |
| فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّبَعُونَ {٢٣} |
23. We told him, "Leave the city with My servants during the night. You will be pursued. |
| وَاتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُغْرَقُونَ {٢٤} |
24. Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh´s army will be drowned. |
| كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ {٢٥} |
25. How many were the gardens, springs, |
| وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ {٢٦} |
26. corn-fields, gracious mansions, |
| وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ {٢٧} |
27. and other bounties which they enjoyed yet left behind! |
| كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ {٢٨} |
28. We gave these as an inheritance to other people. |
| فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ {٢٩} |
29. The sky nor the earth cried for them, nor were they given respite. |
| وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ {٣٠} |
30. We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment |
| مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ {٣١} |
31. and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. |
| وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ {٣٢} |
32. We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge |
| وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاءٌ مُبِينٌ {٣٣} |
33. and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. |
| إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَيَقُولُونَ {٣٤} |
34. These people say, |
| إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِينَ {٣٥} |
35. "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. |
| فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ {٣٦} |
36. Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". |
| أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ {٣٧} |
37. Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. |
| وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ {٣٨} |
38. We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. |
| مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ {٣٩} |
39. We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. |
| إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {٤٠} |
40. The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment |
| يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَنْ مَوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ {٤١} |
41. (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help |
| إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ {٤٢} |
42. except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. |
| إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ {٤٣} |
43. The tree of Zaqqum |
| طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ {٤٤} |
44. is food for the sinner. |
| كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ {٤٥} |
45. It will be like molted brass which will boil in the bellies |
| كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ {٤٦} |
46. like water. |
| خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ {٤٧} |
47. (It will be said of such sinners), "Seize them and drag them into the middle of hell. |
| ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ {٤٨} |
48. Then pour unto their heads the boiling water to torment them". |
| ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ {٤٩} |
49. They will be told, "Suffer the torment. You had thought yourselves to be majestic and honorable. |
| إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ {٥٠} |
50. This is the torment that you persistently doubted". |
| إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ {٥١} |
51. The pious ones will be in a secure place |
| فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ {٥٢} |
52. amid gardens and springs, |
| يَلْبَسُونَ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ {٥٣} |
53. clothed in fine silk and rich brocade, sitting face to face with one another. |
| كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ {٥٤} |
54. We shall unite them to maidens with big black and white lovely eyes. |
| يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ {٥٥} |
55. They will be offered all kinds of fruits, in peace and security. |
| لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ {٥٦} |
56. They will not experience any death other than that which they have already been through. |
| فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ {٥٧} |
57. God will protect them from the torment of hell as a favor from your Lord. (Muhammad), this is certainly the greatest triumph. |
| فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ {٥٨} |
58. We have made the Quran easy for you to recite so that perhaps they may take heed. |
| فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُمْ مُرْتَقِبُونَ {٥٩} |
59. Wait (for God´s decree) and they too will be waiting. |
