| تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ {١} | 1. May the hands of Abu Lahab perish! |
| مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ {٢} | 2. May he too perish! |
| سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ {٣} | 3. His property and worldly gains will be of no help to him. |
| وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ {٤} | 4. He will suffer in a blazing fire |
| فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ {٥} | 5. and so too will his wife who (threw thorns and firewood in the Prophet´s way). Around her neck will be a rope of palm fibre. |
